Description:
There is no doubt that health care delivery is rapidly changing. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) has survived Supreme Court challenges and appears to be here for the long term. A central feature of this act is the formation of Accountable Care Organizations (ACO) and Patient Centered Medical Homes (PCMH). It is the PCMH that will dramatically change the market for health care services. This course begins with economics. Market behavior depends on supply and demand. While the ACA will significantly alter supply and demand of medical services, PCMHs will change how those services are accessed by the public. This course will review the economics of the ACA, the effect of PCMH on patient’s access to your practice, and then the “what to do” in response. The ACA and PCMH will affect every physician in every specialty in every setting. When the market shifts, it occurs quickly, and those unprepared are left behind.
